Fly into Lhasa Gonggar Airport (LXA) from major Chinese hubs, or take a Qinghai–Tibet railway service. Routes, travel times, and ticket availability vary.
Lhasa is about 3,650 meters. Acclimatization and conservative pacing are essential; oxygen is not a substitute for medical care. Travelers with heart, lung, or other relevant conditions should consult a physician before booking.
Foreign passport holders require Tibet travel approval and must travel on an organized itinerary through authorized arrangements. Submit passport and visa documents at least 30 days before travel; processing time and route approval vary, and no permit can be guaranteed until issued.
